Patterned Tile in the Austin House Upstairs Loo

An upstairs (or downstairs) loo is a fantastic opportunity to introduce a playful element into your home. Because you only spend so little time there in a day, you can go quite bold with the design, without fearing your senses will become overwhelmed. In the Austin House Project upstairs loo, we tiled the floor with these monochrome, patterned tiles.

The use of patterned tiles nods to the hispanic traditional tiles, which are ingrained in the history of Texas, while the restrained palette makes it feel contemporary. It adds a layer of subtle interest to the small space.

The tiles are paired with off-white walls and cabinetry, contemporary black handles and metal-framed mirror, and warm gold hardware.
