Top 3 Norrgavel Furnishings
In a recent trip to Gothenburg, Sweden, I was able to stop by the Norrgavel shop. If you’re not familiar with the brand, they create beautifully crafted, timeless Swedish design, favouring light, natural wood, iron, cotton and wool. Here are a few pieces that stood out to me on this visit:
1. Peg bench in birch. “Pinstolar” or peg chairs are very traditionally Swedish, and this bench version would make an elegant at home. I can see it sitting tucked into a bedroom’s bay window nook, as a welcome in a hallway, or as a way to pack in lots of family members at the kitchen table.
2. Vega Floor lamp. The shape of this reading lamp, with its curved arm, is functional as well as elegant. Its minimalist design would bring taste to any space at home. It harkens back to the classic Swedish design by Josef Frank for Svenskt Tenn.
3. Smalrand grey-green/off-white runner & Pinstripe beige/off-white runner. Typically favouring wooden floors at home, Swedes often have a collection of beautiful woven rugs. These striped options are subtle in design, calming in colour, and soft under foot.
