Create a Scandi Bathroom

Scandi interiors style extends across the home, including the bathroom! What is it that makes a bathroom feel more Scandi? Here are a few common elements from this look to try in your own home, to get a Scandi-style bathroom!

1. White subway tiles with dark grout - Maintained white ceramic tiles can make a space feel clean and crisp. Using a dark grout will give the tiles more of a considered-designed look, accentuating them by contrasting with their darker borders.

2. Stone slabs - Scandinavian interiors are typically very well rooted in nature, so bringing in natural stone elements into the bathroom makes complete sense. The texture from the stone will work to soften the geometric lines from any tiles or white goods.

3. Circular details - In another balancing act, circular design details will offset the harsh geometric lines from hard edges around the bathroom. Think globe lamps, circular mirrors, or even circular light switches (which are actually very traditional in Sweden).

4. Grey colour palette - There are indeed more colourful Scandinavian homes, but keeping a grey colour palette in the bathroom is very common, both at home and in restaurants and hotels of the region. Even greys can be warm, if you wish - just find tones with tiny hints of yellow or red (think slightly brown).

5. Keep it minimal materials - Scandinavian interior style tends to favour more minimally decorated rooms. Another way to create a minimalist room, is to stick to only a minimal number of materials! A restrained set of materials has a similar effect to a room with a restrained colour palette. The more elements that are added in, the closer towards maximalist one edges! So keep your bathroom tile choices to a minimum for this look!
