Listen to The Great Indoors with Oliver Heath

Something that’s lovely with interiors podcasts, is that we can discuss the theory behind why certain stylings work or not. While of course interiors are visual, they actually use all of our senses (think about a velvet sofa or lovely warm scent). Podcasts are a great opportunity to imagine and consider interiors without actually seeing them.

A great one of these podcasts is The Great Indoors with Sophie Robinson Interiors and Mad About the House. In a recent episode, Design for LIfe with Oliver Heath, they discuss with architect Heath, a number of interesting topics to consider, such as tips to support good sleep, and our circadian rhythms. They consider smart lighting options, such as lights similar to the Philips Hue lightbulbs with colour settings mimicking dusk to bright daylight. I know Ikea Smart lighting is a popular choice too. While these bulbs are more expensive than standard ones, these LED options do last longer, so are more eco-friendly. And they positively affect your mood!

They also discuss biophilic interiors, including a timber bed that feels, looks and also sounds like real wood - something we don’t experience as often these days, with lots of man-made materials around.
