Modern Summer Mountain Space Planning

 

The space planning of a home can make a space cosier or more social. For this second home Modern Summer Mountain House for romantic weekends and getaways with friends, it was important to consider both private moments and entertaining.

Again, it’s a house for a young couple living in the city, for weekend and summer use. Their lifestyle and hopes for the space help to form the final floor plan of their 2 bedroom house with a large outdoor terrace.

It was important to consider a number of factors, such as how to navigate the space (green arrows below).

Creating different moments or opportunities for quieter vs more chatty moments, I used zoning (yellow), or grouping.

And, with a great terrace with a view, I made sure to consider sight-lines towards the outdoor views (orange), from both inside areas as well as outside.
