Blue and Gold Table Setting

Dressing up the table can completely transform the mood of your meal, potentially from a rushed everyday meal, to an elegant affair. The other day, I styled the table with this blue and gold table setting, as below. (I realise that the fish fork made it there instead of the main course fork, but I was just so excited to throw it all together!)

To bring colour to the table, I love using a few coloured table runners across the short side of the table, instead of across its its entire length. They become sort of place settings, while injecting colour. The ones I used here are golden turmeric linens from France.

I do also love blue vintage plates (this is a Swedish-patterned dining plate, and a Danish serving plate), and they just look amazing contrasting with the yellow. I grounded each space by laying the napkin under the plate, draping off of the table.

And something that’s always great with mini-vases, or bud-vases, is that we can bring flowers and nature to the table, while still being able to see over them to the person across the table!
