Schjerfbeck at the Royal Academy

 

Iā€™m so happy to have discovered Helene Schjerfbeck, through the Royal Academy. She and her work speak to me on so many levels, including: She was a Swedish-speaking Finn; she lived by the English coast (gorgeous, dramatic cliffs), Paris, and the Nordic region; and she had a strong female voice, combining intellectual meditations, bold form and colour, and a taste for fashion.

 If you can make it out to the Helene Schjerfbeck exhibit at the Royal Academy London before it ends (20 July ā€” 27 October 2019), go!
